Our classroom faces our school garden. After class we like to look out of the windows to enjoy the lovely view. Our school garden is the most beautiful place in the school. There is a small pool in the middle. Some goldfish are swimming in it. Around the pool there are all kinds of flowers. We can always see flowers, even in winter. Jack is the name of a game. It is quite popular with children. To play jacks, you will need a small ball and ten small metal objects called jacks.

The rules for this game are quite easy. To begin with, you put the ten jacks on the floor or ground in front of you. Toss the ball high (but no too high), pick up one jack and then catch the ball. Keep the jack in your hand and go on to pick up the other jacks one at a time. You lose your turn if you do not catch the ball, or if you do not pick up a jack, or if you drop off the jacks from your hand.

When you finish all the ten jacks, you now try to do the same thing again but with two jacks at one time. This is more difficult, of course, you lose your turn if you make any of the above three mistakes or if you do not pick up two jacks each time.

American people like to say "Thank you" whenever others help them or say something kind to them. People of many other countries do so, too. It is a very good habit.

You should say "Thank you"when someone passes you the salt on the table, when someone walking ahead of you, keeps the door open to you, when someone says you have done your work well, or you have bought a nice thing, or your city is very beautiful.

"Thank you"is used not only between friends but also between parents and children and sisters, husbands and wives.

"Excuse me"is another short sentence they use. When you hear someone say so behind you, you know that somebody wants to walk past you without touching you.

It's not polite to break others while they are talking. If you want to speak to one of them, say "Excuse me"first, and then begin talking. You should also do so when you want to cough or make any unpleasant noise before others.

2020届中考英语阅读理解50篇(含答案)

2020届中考英语阅读理解50篇 (绝对精品训练题,接近实战考题,值得下载练习) 1 When I was a kid in Minnesota, watermelon was expensive. One of my father’s friends, Bernie, was a rich businessman, who owned a large store in St. Paul. Every summer, when the first watermelons arrived, Bernie would call. Dad and I would go to Bernie’s place. We’d sit on the edge of the dock(码头), feet dangling(摇晃), and got ready for a big meal. Bernie would take his knife, cut our first watermelon, hand us both a big piece and sit down next to us. Then we’d bury our faces in watermelon, eating only the heart—the reddest, juiciest, firmest, sweetest, most seed-free part—and throw away the rest. Bernie was my father’s idea of a rich man. I always thought it was because he was such a successful businessman. Years later, I realized that it was not Bernie’s wealth itself but his way of dealing with it that my father liked. Bernie knew how to stop working, get together with friends and eat only the heart of the watermelon. What I learned from Bernie is that being rich is a state of mind. Some of us, no matter how much money we have, will never be free enough to eat only the heart of the watermelon. If you don’t take the time to dangle your feet over the dock and enjoy life’s small pleasure, your work is probably hurting your life. For many years, I forgot that lesson I’d learned as a kid on the loading dock. I was too busy making all the money I could. Well, I’ve relearned it. I hope I have time left to enjoy the success of others and to take pleasure in the day. That’s the heart of the watermelon. I have learned again to throw t he rest away. 1. We learned from the second paragraph that the writer and his father were feeling ______. A. relaxed B. worried C. hungry D. proud 2. How did the writer and his father eat the watermelon? A. They ate it in a polite way. B. They only ate its best part. C. They ate every part of it. D. They shared only one piece. 3. In the eyes of the writer’s father, Bernie ______. A. was just a rich businessman B. worked hard all the time C. lived a rich but healthy life D. knew how to make money

With 5G, this lag will be greatly lowered, making the cars safer. 5G could also be used to power the internet of things (IoT), that is, a large online network that connects all things and people. Fast internet speeds will be the key to developing this technology. The IoT could be used in a lot of ways.
