Topic: What can you do?
Period: 1st period
Teaching aims:
Knowledge aim: Students can write and say new phrases related to housework: cook the meals, water the flowers, sweep the floor and clean the bedroom.
Ability aim: Ss can us e the sentence patterns “What can you do? “I can...” To cultivate their ability of speaking and listening.
Emotional aim: To arouse the Ss’ interests in English and to help the Ss form the good habits of paying attention to hygiene and loving of labor.
Teaching points:
Key points: Ss master new words and phrases: cook the meals, water the flowers, sweep the floor and clean the bedroom.
Difficult points: Ss master the sentence patterns “What can you do? “I can...” in the real situation.
Teaching method: task-based language teaching method& situational teaching method.
Teaching aids: PPT, pictures& recorder
Teaching procedure:
Step 1: warm up
Invite the Ss to sing a song named twinkle twinkle little star together.

Step 2: presentation
Using the multimedia to create a real situation, present a dirty and littery classroom, I will do an individual activity, look at the screen, ask and answer .I will ask the students "what can you do?" Ss answer the question "I can ..."
Then I write these phrases on the blackboard and ask Ss to read after me for several times. Also, I’ll invite a student to be a little teacher and he teaches the other Ss to read the phrases.
Step 4 practice
Game 1: a guessing game. A student do some actions in front of the class, and other Ss guess what he is doing.
Game 2: “drive the train” game. Ss take turns asking and answering questions. The first team to finish the task will be given a star.
Step 5 consolidation
At last, to cultivate the Ss' communicative ability in English .I will show the students some word cards and sentence cards, let them make up a situational dialogue, and act the dialogue in role.
Step 6 homework
Report the result to their parents using the sentence pattern and phrases.
