Writing

Making kites is a traditional skill in my hometown .Mr Yang is good at it. He is over 70,but he looks fit. He enjoys his work. First, he will choose good bamboos and cut them into pieces with a knife. Then the paper is cut out in the shape of an animal or an object. Next , tie them to sticks with thin ropes in some ways. Paper cutting is one of the oldest Chinese traditional skills. People first started paper cutting in the 6th century. Scissors and paper are usually used in paper cutting. People cut different patterns like animals, plants and Chinese characters for health or good luck. Paper cuttings are commonly used during festivals or for happy events. For example, in the Spring Festival or in a wedding, people put red paper cuttings on windows for good luck and best wishes.
