Last month, he thought the living room in his house was boring, so he painted it blue. His mum told him to stop it, but he kept on painting. Now the living room has ______ (34) blue walls but also a blue ceiling and floor. Even his cat is blue now!

When I wanted a shelf above her bed, he said, “(35)____________ !” He then spent five hours putting up the shelf on the wall. Then I put my books on the shelf. Whoops! They couldn’t stay there because one of the shelf was

much higher than (36)___________

34. A. both B. either C. neither D. not only

When the father calmed down,he took his son to the(45)as soon as he could.Although the doctor tried to save the broken bones,he had to (46)the fingers from both of the boy's hands in the end.

When the boy (47)in the hospital and saw his hands,he innocently (天真地)said,

"Daddy,I'm sorry about your car."Then he asked,"But when are my fingers going to grow back?46.A.cut B.connect C.clean D.fix

When the father calmed down,he took his son to the(45)as soon as he could.Although the doctor tried to save the broken bones,he had to (46)the fingers from both of the boy's hands in the end. When the boy (47)in the hospital and saw his hands,he innocently (天真地)said,“Daddy,I'm sorry about your car.”Then he asked,“But when are my fingers going to grow back?”

45.A.school B.shop C.hospital D.restaurant

Compared 31 some unhappy people, those who are always pleased and relaxed are less likely to suffer from colds, 32 a new study. The researchers from New York University said, “ 33 helps the body prevent diseases.”

“It seems that positive feelings may reduce the 34 of illness,” said the chief researcher Sheldon Cohen.

33. A. Being happy B. Being careful

C. Being angry

D. Being nervous

Have you ever taken a tour of a zoo? If so, it’s likely that the person who led you through the zoo helped you to learn a lot about the _______.

...

A.gardens

B. foods

C. plants

D. Animals

If you studied pictures that ancient people left on rock walls and you tried to determine their meaning, you would not detect a deep interest in romance among the artists. 51 , you would see plenty of animals with people running after them. Life for ancient people seemed to center on hunting and gathering wild foods for meals. In modern times, when food is available in grocery stores, finding love is more 52 to people’s lives. The 53 is all around us. It is easy to prepare a list of modern stories having to do with love. An endless number of books and movies qualify as love stories in popular culture. Researchers are studying whether love, a highly valued emotional state, can be 54 . They ask, what is love?
