Watching TV: Good OR Bad? Influence?

· TV provides no educational benefits, Worse, it steals time for act ivities that actually develop kid brain, like interacting with other people and playing.

· TV viewing takes away the time that your child needs to develop im portant skills like language, creativity, motor, and social skills.

· TV viewing numbs your kid's mind as it prevents your child from ex ercising initiative, being intellectually challenged, thinking analyt ically, and using his imagination.

· According to Speech and language expert Dr. Sally Ward, 20 years o f research show that kids who are bombarded by background TV noise in their homes have trouble paying attention to voices when there is al so background noise.

· School kids who watch too much TV also tend to work less on their homework. When doing homework with TV on the background, kids tend t o retain less skill and information. When they lose sleep because of TV, they become less alert during the day, and this results in poor s chool performance.

The Top 10 Benefits of Watching Television:

1. Intelligence- Complex TV series such as Lost, Heroes and Battlesta r Galactica require a great deal of thinking to understand what is ha ppening.

2. Learn about different people and places- While nothing beats actua l travel for this type of learning, most people are limited in the am ount of travel they can do. TV opens up the world, whether through wa tching documentaries, or drama series with multicultural characters.

3. Water Cooler effect- TV can often give office mates with little in common, something to talk about. This is especially so with series t hat lend themselves to discussion such as American Idol, Lost or majo r events such as the finale of The Sopranos.

4. Laughter- Laughing is good for us. As the saying goes, laughter is the best medicine. It has been found to increase circulation, lower

blood pressure and more. Watching a good comedy on TV can be a great way to find something to laugh about.

5. How-To- With cable channels such as HGTV and the Food Network, you can actually learn how to do almost anything to or for your home.

6. Excitement- Contest shows such as American Idol, Survivor and The Amazing Race give you the fun and excitement of having favorites and rooting for a winner. The benefits of sports for non-sports watchers.

7. Educational and Informative - With cable channels such as Discover , National Geographic and the History Channels, watching TV can be as educational as going to school. Plus, how many times have you learne d something while watching a regular TV series? If it weren't for all the police and lawyer shows on TV, would anybody other than lawyers know what Miranda rights were?

8. Memory - With all the serial shows on television, from the complex like Lost, to the soapy, like Grey's Anatomy, we need to remember wh at has happened from week to week to enjoy them.

9. Makes exercise easier - When doing a stationary exercise like a tr eadmill, it can get very boring. Reading is difficult because of the movement. Music helps but doesn't give you anything to look at. There must be a reason why there are televisions in most gyms.

10. Gives families something to bond over - my favorite reason. From the time that I watched Sesame Street and Mr. Rogers with my kids to the current day when we spend hours talking about Lost, Chuck, The Bi g Bang Theory, Heroes and The Office, television has led to some grea t conversations. Often, talking about something that occurred in a TV show will lead to discussions of real life situations. If that isn't a benefit, I don't know what is.

Hisotry is important? Why? Museum Free?

1: History is a lesson to teach you who you are and who you will be

2: It gives you knowledge of how the world works

3: If we don't study history how to we learn from our mistakes?

The flip side of li ving in a small town is health care choices are limited, and everyone knows your business. Body language; eye contact to show the intimacy

Money? Make you happy? Why sb is very rich but unhappy?

"It may not be the money. It may be that richer people command more r espect or they have the freedom to do more things. Or they are more l ikely to hold jobs in which people defer to them. Or they have more a utonomy in what they do.

"happiness (is not) for sale!" Personally, I don't feel any happier when I have more things or more money. Money doesn't equal happiness.

This will make them better s cientists.

3Combine science and social studies by teaching the student about soc ial science. Have the students think about what makes people differen t and how we think about society. Discuss social science and the natu re of society to improve scientific thinking and social empathy. Star t with a broad question, such as whether there are bigger differences between cultures or within cultures.

4Foster a sense of community amongst the after school class by develo ping a new language together. This will teach the students social stu dies and will help them to get to know one another. By learning about how language is formed, students will also improve their abilities t o learn new languages.

5Set the students a puzzle at the start of each class which they must solve by the end. For example, provide them with an optical illusion and ask them to work out why the brain perceives it one way when it is not true. Students will learn critical thinking and will be consta ntly engaged in the class.

So I suppose I should commence with the first aspect which is who the person is, and I’d probably select Jack Ma, the current director of https://www.doczj.com/doc/7a18329313.html,. Regarding the theme of what makes him successful, and the thing that needs to be highlighted here is that his success should mostly be attributed to some priceless qualities he possesses such as entrepreneurship, leadership and the courage to take risks. This also explains the reason why I admire him, you know, he is a successful entrepreneur who started from the scratch. When he set up his company, all he had was a budget of 50,000 Yuan and merely 5 staff.Hard as the condition was, he managed to lead his team to achieve business success one after another just like the King Midas. To cut a long story short, as my very last point, with reference to the question of whether he has influenced me, I have to say so deeply has his legendary story influenced me that I have made up my mind to set up my own company after I graduate following his steps.

How often do you go to the cinema? Definitely, watching movies is my cup of tea. You know, I'm always busy in studying. But I will go to the cinema as often as possible, maybe once every other week because it is one of my favourite ways to relax. I believe films are a wonderful form of art. Many of my friends have the same habit, so we always go to Wanda International Cinema on weekends together, which I think is the best cinema in Beijing. Why do you like to watch films? Firstly, I think watching films is a good way to relax. You know, when watching a film, I will throw all of my emotion to the story so that I can forget nearly everything about myself, especially the troubles. Also, I can learn many things from the roles in films, for example, I learned how to join forces to fight again devil from my favourite movie . Do you like to watch films in the cinema or at home? I prefer watching films in the cinema, absolutely. You know, the atmosphere and the sound effect are prefect in the cinema, which you cannot feel at home, facing a small screen, especially for scientific and horror. So you can understand the story and the roles' emotion better, also you are able to learn more from the films. What kind of films do you like? I love fancy film the most. They are full of magic, imagination and creativity. I believe only imagination can make our real life more colorful. My favorite movie is , which is typical of this kind of movies. I admire J.K.Rowling, the producer of it; I really wonder how those wonderful ideas came from her head! Who is your favorite movie star? My favorite movie star is Yang Ziqiong, who is very famous not only in China but also in Hollywood. She is one of the earliest actresses accepted by Hollywood and became popular in the world. She's good at martial arts. She's not very beautiful but her kongfu is really amazing, quick, clear-cut and powerful. I think she's the proud of China, not only for her position in Hollywood, but also because she spread Chinese traditional kongfu in the world. What's the difference between American films and Chinese films? I think the biggest difference lies in the purpose of the film, result from the level of freedom. You know, most of Chinese films just describe an ordinary story and focus on teaching the audience some principles, because the government controls the contents of films stringently. But because of freedom, the purpose of most American films is to give audience an impressive shock, and then earn enormous profits.

Lexical Resource 1. Accurateness 2. Authentic vocabulary 3. Reading makes a full man writing makes an exact man

。。 Questions 25-28 What is a dinosaur? A. Although the name dinosaur is derived from the Greek for “terrible lizard”, dinosaurs were not, in fact, lizards at all. Like lizards, dinosaurs are included in the class Reptilia, or reptiles, one of the five main classes of Vertebrata, animals with backbones. However, at the next level of classification, within reptiles, significant differences in the skeletal anatomy of lizards and dinosaurs have led scientists to place these groups of animals into two different superorders: Lepidosauria, or lepidosaurs, and Archosauria, or archosaurs. B. Classified as lepidosaurs are lizards and snakes and their prehistoric ancestors. Included among the archosaurs, or “ruling reptiles”, are prehistoric and modern crocodiles, and the now extinct thecondonts, pterosaurs and dinosaurs. Paleontologists believe that both dinosaurs and crocodiles evolved, in the later years of the Triassic Period (c. 248-208 million years ago), from creatures called pseudosuchian thecodonts. Lizards, snakes and different types of thecondont are believed to have evolved earlier in the Triassic Period from reptiles known as eosuchians. C. The most important skeletal differences between dinosaurs and other archosaurs are in the bones of the skull, pelvis and limbs. Dinosaur skulls are found in a great range of shapes and sizes, reflecting the different eating habits and lifestyles of a large and varied group of animals that dominated life on Earth for an extraordinary 165 million years. However, unlike the skulls of any other known animals, the skulls of dinosaurs had two long bones known as vomers. These bones extended on either side of the head, from the front of the snout to the level of the holes in the skull known as the antorbital fenestra, situated in front of the dinosaur’s orbits or eyesockets. D. All dinosaurs, whether large or small, quadrupedal or bipedal, fleet-footed or

My favourate toy is a toy dog named Cici. I got Cici when I was 6……My father gave me this toy on my sixth birthday. Cici is fluffy with white and soft fur, which of course makes her look reaaaaally lovely. Cici also has big sparkling eyes as well as a cute nose. To tell you the truth, I found that she really looked like me when I was at such a young age. I played and slept with Cici every day during my primary and middle school life, however, now I only have a little time to spend with her every week, cuz maybe I have grown up, just like a young adult who would never play with a toy every day. But actually I miss the time I spent with Cici, as it represents my age of innocence. Childhood should be treasured…always…..besides that, the love from parents to protect and bless their children is quite respectful and deserve admiration. I believe that I can always recall my beautiful childhood whenever I see Cici, and feel the true love from my dad. Describe a wedding you joined. You should say: Whose wedding it was; When it was held; What happened on the ceremony; And what’s your feeling about it. Rome wasn’t built in a day 。 描述一次特别的晚餐或聚会,或者一次参加过的婚礼,考生可参考下列提纲: ● When did you have the meal / join the wedding? ● Where was it held? ● Who took part in the meal/wedding? ● What did the people do at the meal/wedding? ● What was special about the meal /wedding? ● What impressed you deeply? ● Why do you think it’s a special meal /wedding? Describe a wedding you joined. You should say: Whose wedding it was; When it was held; What happened on the ceremony; And what’s your feeling about it.
