Aims

Teacher: Good morning, students

Students: Good morning, Mr. Li.

Teacher: It is time for class, please keep quiet. I am going to call the roll. Who is absent today?

Student A: Lily isn't here.

Teacher: What's the matter with her?

Student A: She caught a cold yesterday and didn't feel well.

1.football pitch足球场

2.It is time for...是……的时候,for 后面可以接名词, 代词及动名词。同时, 如果要表明谁做, 该句型可以变为:It is time for sb. to do…

e.g. It is time (for us) to do exercises. 该是( 我们) 做练习的时候了。

3.roll n. 名册; 名单; call the roll 点名

e.g. I'll call the roll before class. 课前我要点名。

4. What's the matter?怎么了? 出什么事了? 也可以表达为What's wrong? 或What's up?

1.tee off 开球

tee [ti:]n. 高尔夫球的球座

tee off 是指" 把高尔夫球自球座上击出", 也就是" 开球"的意思。另外,tee (someone)off 表示" 使( 某人) 生气" tee off (something) 则是"开始( 某活动)" 。

Y ou tee off first. 你先开球。

I'm not teed off. I'm enraged!我不是生气, 而是气坏了!

Mr. Chen teed off the fundraising campaign with a dinner. 陈先生以晚宴的方式开始了募款活动。

2.don't sweat it 别担心

-sweat 出汗

don't sweat it 相当于don't worry about it, 是叫对方放心的意思。

3.every dog has hiss day每个人总有走运的时候

every dog has hiss day 字面解释为" 每只狗都会有它的日子", 用来形容" 每个人总有走运的时候", 也就是everyone wins sometimes 的意思。

每个人都有走运的时候, 但是我的幸运日什么时候才会来呢?

4.drop by短暂地拜访; 暂停

drop v.掉下, 遗漏

drop by 特指" 短暂地停留、拜访" 。介词in 、over 也可代替by, 与drop 连用表示相同的意思。Drop by sometime.有空来玩。

5.the nineteenth hole第19 洞高尔夫球全程比赛总共有18 洞, 第19 洞所指的是高尔夫球场上供人休息、喝饮料的地方。

6.aslong as 只要……就…··

as long as 作连接词用, 引导条件句, 意思是" 只要" 。as long as 也可接时间状语从句, 表示" 长达…" 之意。
