一、PETS三级口试的内容
PETS三级口试试卷分A、B、C三节，测试考生用英语进行口头交际的能力。每次口试采取两名口试教师和两名考生的形式。
一名口试教师不参与交谈，专事评分；另一名主持口试，随时与考生交谈并评分。专事评分的教师所给分数的权重占考生口试成绩的三分之二，主持口试的教师所给分数的权重占考生口试成绩的三分之一：
A节：考查考生提供个人信息、回答有关他们日常生活、家乡、家庭、工作、学习等问题的能力。该节约需3分钟时间。
B节：考查考生就信息卡上的图片或文字讨论有关问题的能力。该节约需3分钟时间。
C节：要求考生就信息卡上的图片或文字作简短描述，之后另一考生就同一话题阐述个人观点。该节约需4分钟时间。
二、夯实基础，做好充分的应试准备
英语口试着重考查考生英语的听、说能力，其中包括对语音、语调、词汇、语速和语感的考查。这就要求考生在日常学习中必须不断地积累语音、词汇、语法知识；必须注重在长期学习过程中加强动手、动口、动脑的良好习惯。而听说是语言应用的重要方面，听说的训练直接关系到英语口试的成败。因此，在平时的口语训练中，需要注意以下几个方面。
1、强化语音语调，加大朗读训练
语音语调的考查主要是考查学生发音要准确、清晰，语调要自然流畅。学生朗读时能恰当地运用意群断句，连读自然正确。因此平时的训练中要多听录音。录音的内容可以多种多样，可以听单词辨音，也可以听一些连贯的词组，听短文、对话等，然后要一句一句地模仿。而朗读短文的选读应以自己易接受、好理解的故事为主。这就要求我们一方面要迅速看懂短文的内容，同时对朗读的语音、语调、语速和语感进行准备。语音和语调只有通过朗读完整的短文才能得以全面的体现。
2、创造良好环境，加强情景交流
众所周知，听和说作为语言交流的两个方面，在自然状态下是不可分离的，没有一定的听说条件，只靠闷头学习，很难在听说方面有所收获。因此，要有意识地、积极地创造英语学习环境，制造学习气氛，以弥补自然条件的不足。
为提高学生的口语交流能力，平时尽量用英语参加课堂活动，用英语回答老师所提出的问题，用英语与同学进行交流。课外，积极参加英语第二课堂活动，如英语朗读、演讲比赛、讲故事等活动，这样可以使自己心情放松，在娱乐中得到英语听说的训练。
3、熟悉考试题型，增强应考信心
考试前，应在老师的指导下进行几次模拟口试，以熟悉题型、增强信心。许多考生在口试中，往往怕听错、说错，而感到难以开口，这样就处于一种被动状态，形成一种无形的压力，感到过度紧张，难以发挥真实水平。因此，考试前，学生要熟悉题型、解除疑虑、增强信心，为自己的高考英语口试铺平道路。
三、PETS三级口试的应试技巧
方法是制胜的要素，掌握一定的应试技巧，对英语口试起着重要的作用。
1、了解英语口试的程序
考生拿到试题后，应迅速阅读理解全文，准备回答老师的提问。此外，还要特别熟读有星号标志（有些省份会有类似的标志）的段落，但考生一定要注意，千万不能只准备星号的部分，一定要阅读、读懂全文。同时，把故事的内容用who，what，when，where，how，why等问题串起来，以准备教师提问星号以外部分的问题。
2、熟悉口试过程中的常用语
在口语考试的时候，如果一个考生出来，主考人往往用英语对下一个考生说：Please wait outside for a moment．／Wait outside please．／Please don’t come in until we ask you to．等等。此时你应理解主考人的意思，并应及时地应答，如：OK．／All right．这样主考人对你的反应将表示满意，在口试时，你的印象也会嵌入考官脑海中。
3、及时调整好心理状态
口试时间的一般规律是先松后紧。检查考生发音和语音语调无需朗读一长段文字，读一两句就知分晓了。当考生被打断时，往往是主考人认为朗读满意，没有必要再继续念下去，可以进行下一环节了。此时考生不必紧张，不要以为念得糟透。事实上，主考人往往会给念得不理想的人多一些时间，尽量让考生给自己纠正一些错误。而考生应注意到考官在为自己创造一切机会，从困境中摆脱出来，调整心理状态，组织语言文字，为口头作文及自由会话打下良好基础。
4、在交流过程中尽量使用英语
英语口试中的第二部分着重测试考生的口头表达和组织语言的能力。口头作文要求考生在准备阶段必须考虑说什么，怎么说，如何开头，怎样结尾，如何把主要内容与开头、结尾有机地结合起来，融为一体。整个口述应力求条理清晰、表达自然、句型规范、用语恰当，使口述材料具有良好的连贯性与流畅性。
口试时，主考人往往会根据规定的问题或根据考生情况随意提问，这就是口试中的“自由会话”，这时是考生“表现”自己的好机会。而这种表现，则与平时的练习不无关系。因此，在平时的口语训练过程中，多针对一些有关个人业余时间的爱好组织一些材料；和其他同学多交流一些观点和看法，将对口试顺利完成起到重要作用。
总之，英语口试的主要目的是为了考核考生的英语交际能力，是外语教学实施素质教育的突破口。加强口语训练，将使学生的言语交流能力及个性心理品质都得到锻炼和提高，同时对开发个人潜能、促进个性发展也具有积极作用。

4)考试中为了使自己回答问题的内容更充实些，可以用列举法或举例说明法予以适当展开阐述。

It?s about the same，except that we get a lot more snow in my hometown than we get in Beijing. I suppose it has something to do with the geography of the two cities.

Beijing，becau se it…s the capital of China and has a very rich culture. In addition，Beijing is more beautiful than many other cities，because it?s the showcase of China. A lot of money has been invested in Beijing and it is a very interesting place to visit.
11. Has the transport changed over the past 20 years in China?
Yes，very much indeed. We used to have very few bus lines years ago. Most people would use their bikes to get to places in the city. But now in big cities，there are more bus lines linking different places so it is a lot more convenient. Some cities also have subway lines so it makes traveling much faster than before. There are also more taxis in cities and more people are also using that as a mode of transportation.
12. Let…s talk a little about trav eling and transport. For a long trip，how do you prefer to travel? In my country，if it is a long trip，I would prefer to take a train ride. Not only is train ride more economical，but also the time and route have shortened tremendously in the past few years. Air travel is more expensive and they are often beyond my budget.
13. Let?s talk about your hometown or village. What kind of place is it?
My hometown is in the outskirts of Beijing. Maybe one hour travel time to get to Beijing. Fairly close I would say. The people there are mostly farmers but many young people have gone to Beijing to work. I like the place because it is very quiet. Unlike the people in big cities who are more complicated，the people of the place where I come from are usually more down to earth.
14. Why do you think trains are better than buses?
Trains are better because they don…t encounter any traffic，whereas sometimes in the bus，we get stuck in the traffic. Also，it is always difficult to get on the buses during the peak hour but with the train，you can bet that the chances of getting on are always greater during the peak hour.
15. What kind of parent do you intend to be?
I want to have a good relationship with my child. I have seen so many kids who don?t really know their own parents，and I don…t want to end up like that. I do plan to be strict，but loving. I want my child to always feel comfortable to approach me，whether they?ve been good or bad. It…s pretty easy to tell you what kind of parent I want to be，but when I actually become a parent，I?m sure I…ll have to revise my ideals a bit.
16. How different is your life from the lives of your parents?
It…s very different. I have had many more opportunities and a much more comfortable life than they had. I remember my father telling me stories about having just one egg to eat each week，and that was the highlight of his week. I can?t really imagine life like that，so I…m grateful that I have a better life than my parents did. I appreciate their hard work to get us to this point in our lives.
17. Who does most of the shopping in your family?
Well，I do most of the grocery shopping because there?s a market very close to my work. It…s very convenient for me to pick up milk or eggs or what ever on my way home from work. But，my wife also enjoys shopping very much. She usually does a lot of the clothes shopping for my son and me.
18. Are you a good cook?
a. Yes. I learned everything from my mother who was really famous in our hometown for her cooking. I suppose she lear ned how to cook from her mother as well. I think that?s how I won my husband…s heart，by being such a good cook. He really appreciates good food，and I enjoy cooking for him.
b. No. I?m a terrible cook. No one has ever taught me how to cook. I barely kno w how to boil an egg. 19. Do you have a lot of friends?
It depends on what you mean by “a lot”。。. I do have one or two very close friends，which is all that I need. I don?t have any trouble making friends，and I do have many good friends and acquaintances. But，really I feel most close to just one or two friends.
20. Why did you choose software development as your major?
Because I…d always enjoyed working with computers and I was always good at math and logic. I was fortunate to have a computer in my home when I was in high school，and I spent quite a lot of time just playing around on the computer. My parents bought me all sorts of books on computer programming，and I just started to read them and pick up the ideas in them.

40. Why do people in China traditionally want to have a son?
Sons are preferred because they carry on the family name. Also，when they marry，their wife joins the family. This means that the parents gain a daughter-in-law. 41. What is the situation in the rural areas in China?
It…s not so easy to monitor and control the population growth in the countryside as in the city，because the countryside is so scattered. I do think that the tobacco industry is a big business，and if we tried to eliminate smoking，we?d also be eliminating jobs. 48. In what way do you think university training is helpful or falls short? In China，going to
university can help me get a good job. But，many courses are too old and not very useful. The professors are just recently graduated and very new in their field，or older and not current with new developments. We could be learning much more in our own field，instead of spending time learning courses that have no use for our future.
49. What role does tourism play in your country…s economy?
Tourism is playing a more and more important role in our country?s economy. Since the opening up，the number of tourists has increased dramatically，and this is a useful source of foreign currency for the country.
50. In your opinion，what are the most serious problems associated with modern life?
I think that parents are very busy with their work or careers and have little time to spend with their child. Many people only think about money，and as a result，their families often suffer. What…s the point of leading a modern life if you?re not very happy as a family? I really think that families are very important，but they are often overlooked and underrated. If China wants to be a strong country，we need
to do all we can to strengthen our families.
51. Some local students feel that overseas students are treated better. What do you think?
a. I don…t think it?s completely true. Overseas students have much greater challeng es to face，so relative to what they have to go through，they are treated the same as the local students. Perhaps there are slightly more lenient entrance requirements，but international students are paying quite a lot of tuition in
order to study at the university.
b. In my opinion，the school authority should give preference to overseas students. Overseas students come here all the way from their home country and everything is strange：the environment，culture，customs，and food are different and they have no relatives or friends here and most of them feel pretty homesick and lonely. Emotions of this kind may affect their study. So getting some preferential treatment can help them alleviate these problems and get used to college life as soon as possible.
52. How do you think road accidents can be prevented?
Through education. If we can teach people the rules of the road，there will be fewer accidents. I don…t mean just teaching the drivers，but also teaching pedestrians，cyclists，motorcyclists，etc. Much of the problem behind road accidents lies in peoples lack of
understanding of how the system works. Of course not all road accidents can be prevented，but there will certainly be a great reduction in accidents just through a bit of education.
53. How do you think China?s membership in WTO will benefit China?
Well，it…s a big topic to talk about. But I?m sure it will benefit China and other WTO members as well if China becomes a member of WTO. 54. What do you think of the unemployment problem in China?
I think the unemployment problem is getting more and more serious now. China is a country with a large population and there has always been more labour than required. It was not a big problem in the past under the planned economy system，but now enterprises could not afford the burden of a surplus labour force and many workers in state owned enterprises are being laid off. Something must be done about it before more serious problems arise.
55. What do you think is the main reasons for the gap between rich and poor?
Well，if you ask me，I don…t think y ou can expect everyone to become rich at the same time. Under the market economy system it?s only natural for the most capable people to make a fortune first. Life is a competition after all.
56. What…s the housing situation/condition like in your city?
Well，the housing condition in my city has been improved a lot in recent years. But there are still many people who live in narrow，shabby houses. Besides，instead of getting free houses from the government as part of their benefits，people have to buy houses from real estate companies，and many of them can not afford the high cost of an apartment.
57. How do you think global warming can be prevented?
Well，there is no easy solution. As far as I know，global warming is caused by green-house effect which results from too much carbon dioxide in the air. I think the government should take measures to limit the number of private cars and make efforts to develop the public transportation system. Besides，We should try to replace fossil fuels with new，cleaner energy resources.
58. What?s your view on the increasing divorce rate in China?
Well，it…s not an easy question to answer. The world today is changing rapidly，so are people?s minds，I think there are three reasons for the high divorce rate. First，pe ople…s idea of happiness is changing. Many young people don?t want to stick to a stable but unhappy relationship at the cost of their life-long happiness. Yes，we are getting more and more commercials every day trying to influence consumers… purchases. It certainly has an effect because some people believe what they see on the commercials is true and will fall for it.

I think the change will be incredible in the future. People rely so much on the internet nowadays that they would spend a lot of their time in front of the computer. We are seeing a trend now that more and more people are buying things over the Internet and I think this will be the trend in the future. People will not get out of their house but just shop from home.
63. Why do you go to the Internet for your news stories?
Well，to get the latest updates. Also，in the Internet there is a variety of news so perhaps I may come across something I can never encounter in the newspaper.
64. Why do you think that newspapers are more reliable than，say，TV news?
Because before a newspaper is printed，the editor will check through the articles and the sources often more reliable. In TV news，the news broadcaster may say something he or she thinks is right. So I feel newspaper are more reliable.
65. Why do you think advertising influences what people buy very strongly?
Advertising is a very powerful tool in the media. Because many people do not have the real knowledge of the product，most of the time they rely on media for information，which they think is trustworthy.
