07年Writing Sample “Things I Hate to Do”

I hate to keep pets and tell lies. The thing that I hate doing most is smoking. As we all know, smoking is not only bad for ourselves but also harmful to others. Whenever my father smokes, I feel rather sick. Besides, it is a waste of money to smoke, I think. What’s more, smoking pollutes the air. So I hate smoking most. (63words) ( 7+7+2)

08年Writing Sample“Love around me”

Love is always around me. Every day, mum cooks meal for me, that's love. Classmates say "morning” and "goodbye" to me when I reach or leave school, it's also love. I feel that I’m on top of the world when I get love from others. Love is like sunshine, it will warm you if you are in trouble. Love is like breeze, it will blow away your tears. What am I going to do to show my love? Nothing special, just give them a warm hug and try my best to study hard to reward them in the near future. (7+7+2)

09年Writing Samples“I want to do something for my school”

Although my school is beautiful, there are still some environmental problems. Used paper can sometimes be seen in corners, and bins are often filled with trash. Thus, I want to do a bit of my share for the school in order to improve the environment. First, I can help clean the school when I’m free. Secondly, I should organize a group of people to check and empty the bins once a while. What’s more, I ought to tell all the students to care for the environment. I believe, with the hard work of everyone, we will have a school which is not only beautiful, but also neat and tidy. (7, 8, 3) 112words

It’s widely accepted that students should do something for their schools. As for me, I want to plant a palm tree for my school. For one reason, trees can decorate the campus and keep the environment clean. For another reason, the palm tree is the symbol of my school. It encourages us to be determined and brave when we meet with difficulties. To achieve this goal, I’m going to buy the seed and plant it in the garden in our school, I’ll spare no effort to do something for my beloved school! (7+8+3) 94words

My school, the home where I have been living and studying for the last nine years, means much more than just a place of education to me. In order to show that I’m really thank ful to all this, I want to do something for my school in return. As the home of about 200 international students, my school has only a few books in English. I’d like to provide more original English books and even some movies to the school library. In this way, more students would be able to improve their English skills and feel the beauty of this language. The reason for wanting to do this is also because the school library is short of different varieties. Not only would I bring books, but I’d also motivate the people around me to donate some of theirs as well. I hope my contribution to my school will make it a much better place to study, and its students could enjoy the fragrance of literature.
