When I was 12 years old, I already knew that my teen years were going to be the worst years of my life. I was a total outsider, bullied (欺凌) at school. I felt completely alone in my small town.

But by starting to do volunteer work when I was 14, I turned my problem into a passion for helping others. The opportunity to practice kindness made me feel like my life had a greater purpose. The more positive energy I shared, the more kindness and appreciation I received. I realized that my purpose in life would be to reach out to people, specifically teenagers, and help them feel less alone.

Books were my true friends back then. I was so thankful that the authors wrote those books. The kindness they offered me with their books saved my life. One of my biggest dreams was to become an author so I could write books that would help other teenagers the way those books helped me.

After surviving terrible experiences at school and at home, I made a choice to take the optimistic, positive road in the next steps of my journey. My dream career, one I thought was only possible for the authors I loved, is what I am doing now. I have been a full-time author of teen novels since 2007 and am grateful for this amazing opportunity to reach out to readers every single day.

Kindness saved me when I needed help the most. Even small acts of kindness can change someone's life. You never know what someone else is going through. But by practicing daily kindness, you become an architect of positive change.

A photography exhibition by French artist San Bartolome entitled Moon Door Dreamers opened in the 798 Art Zone in Beijing on December 10, 2011, presenting a cross-cultural perspective (视角) on ordinary life in the capital city.

Bartolome took these photos in August 2008, and produced a video named Two Worlds, One Dream. These works were displayed in Pingyao, an ancient city in Shanxi Province, under the title Beijing Midsummer Night Dream in September 2010.

The moon doors serve as a keyhole through which one can catch a glimpse of a slice of Beijing life. He got his inspiration from one cycling trip to the southeastern suburb of Beijing, where he discovered a peculiar street along which a gray brick wall was built to cover the shabby bungalows. These cabins were mostly rented by migrant workers- peddlers, craftsmen, grocers

and innkeepers.

Born in 1950, Bartolome has worked as a photographer, stage director. Artistic manager, writer and diplomat. A noted Sinophile, Bartolome frequently visits China for photographic subjects. In the fall of 2003, he joined the French Embassy in Beijing as a cultural attache. His work experience in China from 2003 to 2015 further enhanced his awareness of and love for China.

Bartolome not only loves Chinese culture but also the Chinese people. He thinks that Chinese people are kind, welcoming and diverse.

Back from his bike ride to southeastern Beijing, he decided to shoot pictures about ordinary urban lifestyles. He observed dwellers carefully and made friends with them.

After about 30 days and nights that he spent with these common migrants, he created a number of portraits. Meanwhile, he learned more about those rural migrants who earn their living in a city with which they are unfamiliar.

He adopted an optimistic perspective to shoot the sights, and he borrowed the title of one of William Shakespeare s comedy works: A Midsummer Night's Dream.

(1)What is the main purpose of the exhibition?

A. To present Bartolome's photographic skills.

B. To tell us Bartolome's work experience in Beijing.

C. To show us Bartolome's optimistic view on ordinary life in Beijing.

D. To build a cross-cultural communication bridge between China and France.

(2)What inspires Bartolome to shoot pictures about ordinary urban styles?

"Make way, good people, make way, in the King's name! "cried he. "Open a text; and, I promise you, Mistress Prynne shall be set where man, woman, and child, may have a fair sight of her brave clothing, from this time till an hour past noon. A blessing on the moral Colony of the Massachusetts, where immorality is dragged out into the sunshine! Come along, Madam Hester, and show your scarlet (鲜红色的;罪孽深重的)letter in the market-place!

A lane was at once opened through the crowd. Led by the beadle (狱吏),and attended by an irregular procession of serious-looking men and unkind-looking women, Hester Prynne set forth towards the place appointed for her punishment. A crowd of eager and curious schoolboys, understanding little of the matter in hand, except that it gave them a half-holiday, ran before her progress, turning their heads continually to stare into her face, and at the winking baby in her arms, and at the shameful letter on her breast.

It was no great distance, in those days, from the prison-door to the market-place. Measured by the prisoner's experience, however, it might be considered to be a rather long journey; for, though her manner was proud, she perhaps underwent an extreme pain from every footstep of those who thronged to see her, as if her heart had been thrown into the street for them all to step upon. In our nature, however, there is a condition that the sufferer should never know the intensity of what he endures by its present suffering, but chiefly by the pain that rankles (使痛心)after it. With almost a calm manner, therefore, Hester Prynne passed through this portion of her suffering, and came to a sort of scaffold (刑台),at the western end of the market-place. It stood nearly beneath the eaves of Boston's earliest church, and appeared to be a fixture there.

(1)What can we know about the schoolboys?

A. They knew a little of the matter.

B. They were full of curiosity and eagerness.

C. They were happy for having a one-day holiday.

D. They like Hester Prynne and her baby very much.

(2)What does the underlined word "thronged" in paragraph 3 mean?

A. Gathered.

B. Happened.

C. Pretended.

D. Regretted.

(3)What can we know from paragraph 3?

A. The prison was really far from the market-place.

B. The scaffold is at the eastern end of the market-place.

C. Hester Prynne was thrown into the street for people to step on.

D. The sufferer mainly knows the intensity of the pain after the suffering.

(4)What would probably happen to Hester Prynne according to the text?

A. She would be set free.

B. She would give a public speech.

C. She would put on a performance.

D. She would receive serious punishment.

【答案】(1)B

(2)A

(3)D

(4)D

根据第二段中的“A crowd of eager and curious schoolboys, …ran before her progress, turning their heads continually to ….”

根据最后一段中的“though her manner was proud, she perhaps underwent an extreme pain from every footstep of those who thronged to see her, as if her heart had been thrown into the street for them all to step upon.描述了她在众目睽睽之下的内心感受,每迈出一步都感受到一阵巨痛,似乎她的心给抛在街上,任凭他”人吐唾沫和踩踏。因此可知此时,人群在大街上聚集,故选A。

(3)考查推理判断。根据第三段中的“In our nature, however, there is a condition that the sufferer should never know the intensity of what he endures by its present suffering, but chiefly by the pain that rankles (使痛心)after it.” 根据最后一段中的“ therefore, Hester Prynne passed through this portion of her suffering, and came to a sort of scaffold (刑台),at the western end of the market-place”因此,海丝特·白兰度过了这一段痛苦,来到市场西端的一个刑台前,可推知选D。

"Don't answer it," I said to Sam. Our door in the inner city is constantly knocked on; our previous door in the suburbs rarely so. Sam has a full-time job and cannot spend his days answering requests to fix leaking baths or carry cash to the bank.

Sam opened the door and it was Mervin.

"There's a bird on the second floor," he said. "It's in trouble."

Sam followed Mervin upstairs. Mervin pointed and turned to let Sam look. It was a pigeon, the most common of all birds, the bird most likely to foul (弄脏) your newly washed car. And it wasn't flying away. It was stamping in circles. As Sam bent to look, Mervin coughed, "Number two."

Sam asked him to repeat that. "Number two," Mervin said. "The pigeon has been sitting in his own number two, and now it's stuck to his foot."

It had rained for five days, and the bird was young. It could have been sheltering in a wet nest of its own waste, which had then dried on its foot, preventing it from flying away. The pigeon moved in a few more circles. Sam bent to take another look. Mervin said, "All right, then." and walked away.

"Why does everyone think you must solve the problems around here?" I said to Sam when he returned with his story. "It's a bird. Just leave it on the stairs, and let nature take its course." Sam didn't agree. Then he went to the garage and emptied the cardboard box containing our imported camping mats. He returned with the gray pigeon in the box. He showed the bird to our children and they decided to keep it.

They put its foot in the warm water bath and got rid of its waste. Immediately the pigeon erupted in a bomb of feathers and began flying.

(1)How did the author feel about the knocks?

A. She felt bored.

B. She was frightened.

C. She got excited.

D. She was surprised.(2)Why was the pigeon moving in circles?

A. It was learning to fly.

B. It was badly injured.

C. It got caught in the rain.

D. It was trapped by its waste.

(3)What did Sam use the cardboard box to do?

A. Shelter from rain.

B. Give it to Mervin.

C. Wash camping mats.

D. Make a nest for the bird.

(4)What can we learn about Sam from the text?

A. He was brave.

B. He was clever.

C. He was warm-hearted.

D. He was easy-going.【答案】(1)A

(2)D

(3)D

(4)C

根据第一段中的“ Don't answer it ”及“Sam has a full-time job and cannot spend his days answering requests to fix leaking baths or carry cash to the bank”可知,作者让Sam不要应门,因为她对那些找Sam的人不断的敲门感到厌烦。故选A。

It could have been sheltering in a wet nest of its own

waste, which had then dried on its foot, preventing it from flying away”可知,鸽子栖身在自己粪便的湿窝里,其粪便在脚上晾干了,阻止它飞走。

根据第八段中的“Then he went to the garage and emptied the cardboard box containing our imported camping mats. He returned with the gray pigeon in the box. He showed the bird to our children and they decided to keep it”可知,他把纸板箱倒空并用纸箱把鸽子带回来养,所以推断出Sam用纸板箱做鸟巢。

5.Choose the one that fits best according to the information given in the passage you have just read.

Milton Hershey was born near the small village of Derry Church, Pennsylvania, in 1857. He only attended school through the fourth grade; at that point, he was apprenticed(做学徒) to a printer in a nearby town. After a while, he left the printing business and was apprenticed to a Lancaster, Pennsylvania candy maker. And at the age of eighteen, he opened his own candy store in Philadelphia. In spite of his talents as a candy maker, the shop failed after six years.

After the failure of his Philadelphia store, Milton headed for Denver, where he learned the art of making caramels(焦糖). Then in Denver, Milton once again attempted to open his own candy-making businesses, in Chicago, New Orleans, and New York City. Finally, in 1886, he went to Lancaster, Pennsylvania, where he raised the money necessary to try again. This company— the Lancaster Caramel Company—established Milton's reputation as a master candy maker.

In 1893, Milton attended the Chicago International Exposition, where he saw a display of German chocolate-making implements. Fascinated by the equipment, he purchased it for his Lancaster candy factory and began producing chocolate, which he used for coating his caramels. By the next year, production had grown to include cocoa, sweet chocolate, and baking chocolate. The Hershey Chocolate company was born in 1894 as a subsidiary(子公司) of the Lancaster Caramel Company. Six years later, Milton sold the caramel company, but reserved the rights, and the equipment, to make chocolate. He believed that a large market of chocolate consumers was waiting for someone to produce reasonably priced candy. He was right.

Milton Hershey returned to the village where he had been born, in the heart of dairy country, and opened his chocolate manufacturing plant. With access to all the fresh milk he needed, he began producing the finest milk chocolate. The plant that opened in a small Pennsylvania village in 1905 is today the largest chocolate factory in the world. The sweets created at this facility are favorites around the world.

The area where the factory is located is now known as Hershey, Pennsylvania. Within the first decades of its existence, the town of Hershey thrived, as did the chocolate business. A bank, a school, churches, a department store, even a park and a trolley system all appeared in short order; the town soon even had a zoo. Today, a visit to the area reveals the Hershey Medical

Center, Milton Hershey School, and Hershey's Chocolate World—a theme park where visitors are greeted by a giant Reeses Peanut Butter Cup. All of these things— and a huge number of happy chocolate lovers—were made possible because a caramel maker visited the Chicago Exposition of 1893!

(1)The mention of the 1893 Exposition indicates that _______.

A. the exposition in Chicago is held once every three years.

B. the theme of the exposition of 1893 was "Food from Around the World."

C. the exposition contained displays from a variety of countries.

D. the site of the exposition is now a branch of the Hershey Chocolate Company.

(2)According to the passage, Milton Hershey sold his caramel company in _______.

A. 1894

B. 1900

C. 1904

D. 1905

(3)What can you infer from the passage?

A. Chocolate is popular in every country in the world.

B. Reeses Peanut Butter Cups are manufactured by the Hershey Chocolate Company.

C. Chocolate had never been manufactured in the United States before Milton Hershey did it.

D. The Hershey Chocolate Company now makes more money from Hershey's Chocolate World than from the manufacture and sale of chocolate.

(4)The author wrote this passage mainly to _______.

A. recount the founding of the Hershey Chocolate Company

B. describe the process of manufacturing chocolate

C. compare the popularity of chocolate to other candies

D. explain how apprenticeships work

【答案】(1)C

Losing a wallet is one of those careless acts most of us have come across, at some point or the other in our lives. While most of us tend to move on after mourning over the lost necessities, there are a few lucky ones who get them back, with the help of the police or the generosity of the person who finds it.

And then there is Hunter Shamatt, who not only got back his wallet but with some added happiness that was tagged along!

Hunter was on his way to attend his sister's wedding on a Las Vegas-bound flight when he realized that he has misplaced his wallet, sometime during the journey. Hunter's family reached out to the Frontier flight to enquire if someone had handed it over to them. Unfortunately, there was no sign of the missing wallet.

But wait. The story was far from over. Just a week after Hunter's sister's wedding, he received a package in his mail. And guess what? There was his wallet! Surprisingly, the wallet was not the only thing that was inside the package. It also had a handwritten note for Hunter which turned out to be a bonus! The piece of paper read,

P.S. I rounded your cash up to an even $100, so you could celebrate getting your wallet back. HAVE FUN!!!"

Moved by the touching gesture, Hunter's mom, Jeannie Shamatt, decided to write a post on Facebook giving a detailed description of the incident. She also urged everyone to share the post as she would like to meet and greet the person behind the act of kindness, personally.

Now, thanks to the astonishing power of social media, the post finally reached the man behind the note. The man was identified as Todd Brown and it was one of his co-workers who made sure Jeannie Shamatt's post reaches his colleague. Jeannie turned to Facebook again to thank Brown and his family for restoring her faith in humanity.

"I try to teach my children to do the right things in life, help people when you can regardless of the outcome. This story is more about restoring faith in people than anything. The light from the campfire brightened the darkness, but it could not prevent the damp cold of Dennis's Swamp (沼泽地) creeping into their bones. It was a strange place. Martin and Tom wished that they had not accepted Jack's dare. They liked camping, but not near this swamp.

"So," Martin asked as they sat watching the hot coals. "How did this place get its name?"

"Are you sure you want to hear it? It's a scary story," warned Jack.

"Of course!" cried out Tom. "If there were anything to be scared of, you wouldn't have chosen this place!"

"Ok, but don't say I didn't warn you," said Jack, and he began this tale.

"Way back in time, a man called Dennis tried to start a farm here. He built that cottage over there to live in. In those days, the area looked quite different—it was covered with tall trees and the swamp was a crystal-clear river. After three hard years, Dennis had cleared several fields and planted crops. He was so proud of his success that he refused to listen to advice.

"'You are clearing too much land,' warned one old man. 'The land is a living thing. It will hit back at you if you abuse it. '"

"'Silly fool,' said Dennis to himself. 'If I clear more land, I can grow more crops. I'll become wealthier. He's just jealous!'"

"Dennis continued to chop down trees. Small animals that relied on them for food and shelter were destroyed. He was so eager to expand his farm that he did not notice the river flowing slowly towards his door. He did not notice salt seeping to the surface of the land. He did not notice swamp plants choking all the native plants."

"What happened?" Martin asked. It was growing colder. He trembled, twisting his body closer to the fire.

"The land hit back—just as the old man warned," Jack shrugged. "Dennis disappeared. Old folks around here believe that swamp plants moved up from the river and dragged him underwater. His body was never found."

"What a stupid story," laughed Tom. "Plants can't …" Before he had finished speaking, he screamed and fainted (晕倒). The other two boys jumped up with fright, staring at Tom. Suddenly, they burst out laughing. Some green swamp ivy (常春藤) had covered Tom's face. It was a while before Tom could appreciate the joke.

They liked camping, but not near this swamp."

If I clear more land, I can grow more crops. I'll become wealthier. He's just jealous!"

根据最后一段中的"Some green swamp ivy(常春藤) had covered Tom's face."

If you feel sick or uncomfortable, you might seek out a doctor. But what to do if you don't quite know where you fit into this world and you're tired of carrying that burden alone?

I answered strangers' questions on life puzzles at the entrance to the New York City subway at 57th and 8th. A group of strangers had stopped by because they were carrying around some deep, meaningful questions that had long gone unanswered, like "why can't I be happier in my life?"

And then I spotted her, who would be my toughest questioner of the day. She was about 6 years old and held her mother's hand as she craned (伸长脖子) her neck to stare at us. Her mother stopped, but the girl hesitated. "It's OK," I offered. "Do you have a question?" The girl smiled at her mother, then let go of her hand to walk over towards us. She looked me dead in the eye and said: "How do I know I'm real?"

Suddenly I was back in graduate school. Should I talk about the French philosopher Rene Descartes to prove our existence, with the phrase "I think, therefore I am?" Or, mention English philosopher G. E. Moore and his famous "here is one hand, here is the other," to prove the existence of the external world? But then the answer came to me. I remembered that the most important part of philosophy was feeding our sense of wonder. "Close your eyes," I said. She did. "Well, did you disappear?" She smiled and shook her head, then opened her eyes. "Congratulations, you're real."

She grinned (露齿而笑) broadly and walked over to her mother, who looked back at us and smiled.

(1)Why did the author show up at the entrance of the subway?

A. To take the subway.

B. To look for strangers' help.

C. To offer advice on life puzzles.

D. To help strangers carry their bags.

(2)What made the little girl stare at the author?

A. Curiosity

B. Horror

C. Excitement

D. Nervousness (3)How did the girl find the answer?

A. By hearing a story.

B. By learning philosophy.

C. By referring to others' words.

D. By having a real experience.

(4)Which of the following can best describe the author?

A. Strict and smart.

B. Honest and brave.

C. Clever and helpful.

D. Humorous and sociable.

【答案】(1)C

(2)A

(3)D

(4)C

根据第二段中的“I answered strangers' questions on life puzzles at the entrance to the New York City subway at 57th and 8th.”

根据第三段中的“She was about 6 years old and held her mother's hand as she craned (伸长脖子) her neck to stare at us. ”小女孩伸长脖子盯着我们,可以推断出,小女孩因为好奇而盯着作者。故选A。

Close your eyes,’ I said. She did. ‘Well, did you

disappear?’She smiled and shook her head, then opened her eyes. ‘Congratulations, you're real.’"可知,作者让小女孩闭上眼睛,然后再睁开眼睛,从而让女孩通过真实的体验找到问题的答案。故选D。

(4)考查推理判断。根据第四段中的“But then the answer came to me. I remembered that the most important part of philosophy was feeding our sense of wonder.”最终作者从哲学方面找到答案,可推断出,作者很聪明;第二段中的“I answered strangers' questions on life puzzl es at the entrance to the New York City subway at 57th and 8th.”

This year marks the 170th anniversary of Paul Gauguin's birth. He lived for just 54 years but he packed his brief life with activity.

The French painter spent his early childhood in Peru before returning to France. As an adult, he continued to travel a lot. Most famously, he spent much of the last decade of his life in Tahiti, an island in southern Pacific Ocean. Indeed, Gauguin is best known for his colorful paintings of Tahitians and their culture.

The restlessness of this great painter has been normal among modern artists since the middle of the 19th century. They're never satisfied for long with a certain style or way of life. Once something becomes conventional, it's turned down.

The artistic culture that Gauguin developed from was that of Impressionism (印象派). Painters like Claude Monet had wanted to paint how they saw the world, not how their teachers taught them it should be seen. Gauguin, and similar artists like his friend Vincent van Gogh, moved even further away from "respectable" art than the Impressionists. For them, it was not simply a matter of seeing the world differently, but feeling and thinking about it differently, too.

Gauguin saw, felt and thought differently from most members of European society. He thought that European culture was too fancy and not spontaneous. This is why he turned to the traditions of other parts of the world, like Africa, and, eventually, Tahiti. Artists like Gauguin used the word "primitive" for these cultures, but not as a negative term. For him, Europe, in becoming modem, industrial and scientific, seemed less natural than other parts of the world.

In truth, Gauguin's paintings may be unconventional but they are certainly not "primitive". They are the work of a painter with great awareness of what he was doing. It was this awareness that made him such an important painter for those that came after, in the 20th century. When we look closely at the works of Gauguin we begin to understand Pablo Picasso, and especially Henri Matisse, a little better.

(1)What can we infer about Gauguin's life?

A. He had an unhappy childhood.

B. He lived most of his life in Peru.

C. He enjoyed painting in Tahiti.

D. He preferred a traditional life style.

(2)What's the main purpose of Paragraph 4?

A. To explain why Gauguin's works were popular.

B. To point out where Gauguin's inspiration came from.

C. To show Gauguin's different understanding of painting.

D. To compare Gauguin's painting style with Vincent van Gogh's.

(3)Which of the following best explains "spontaneous" underlined in Paragraph 5?

A. Natural

B. Modern

C. Industrial

D. Scientific

(4)The author mentions Picasso and Matisse in the last paragraph to show ________. A. their styles are different from Gauguin's B. great artists share many similarities

C. they are as important as Gauguin

D. Gauguin's influence on their works

【答案】(1)C

(2)C

(3)A

(4)D

根据最后一段中的“Indeed, Gauguin is best known for his colorful paintings of Tahitians and their culture.“事实上,Gauguin最为人所知的是他对塔希提人和他们的文化的丰富多彩的绘画。”可知,他喜欢在塔希提岛画画。故选C。

(2)考查段落大意。根据第四段中的“The artistic culture that Gauguin developed from was that of Impressionism (印象派).”Gauguin发展起来的艺术文化是印象派;以及“Gauguin, and similar artists like his friend Vincent van Gogh, moved even further away from‘respectable’ art than the Impressio nists. ”Gauguin和他的朋友文森特·梵高(Vincent van Gogh)等类似艺术家比印象派画家更远离“受人尊敬的”艺术。可知第四段的目的是“展示Gauguin对绘画的不同理解。”故选C。

(3)考查词义猜测。根据第五段中的“For him, Europe, in becoming modem, industrial and scientific, seemed less natural than other parts of the world.” He thought that European culture was too fancy and not spontaneous. 故选A。 根据最后一段中的“It was this awareness that made him such an important painter for those that came after, in the 20th century. When we look closely at the works of Gauguin we begin to understand Pablo Picasso, and especially Henri Matisse, a little better.

In recent years I have had two very good roles on television: Florence, the wisecracking maid on the series The Jeffersons, and Mary, the mother who holds things together on 227. But 17

years ago, in 1972 when I was just getting started in theater work, I thought I'd never make it as an actress. For that matter, I couldn't even hold my life together or afford a home of my own.

Back then I had about as much self-confidence as a chicken in a fox's nest. I was recovering from surgery and had been off work for six months from my job as a United Airlines reservations agent. I'd had some bit parts in local theater groups, but those came and went, not leading to anything bigger.

Worse, as a single mother with three youngsters, I had no place to live. My children were staying with their father while I recovered in an aunt's apartment. Lying in bed, staring hopelessly at the wall, I didn't know what to do or where to turn.

Then one Sunday morning I aimlessly turned on the television set, and there were actor Robert Young and his wife talking about their faith. I sat right up in bed. They said, "When one door closes, a better one opens," Well, I wasn't going to just sit staring at the closed one. So I got up and trudged (跋涉) on. Even if my shoes wore out, I decided, my faith wouldn't.

Later, when I began filling small parts in television productions, that self-confidence showed. I'd always done my best to play the role as I thought the director wanted, but now I found myself freer to interpret it, I was more natural, more me.

(1)What do the underlined words "hold my life together" in paragraph 1 probably mean?

A. Enjoy my life.

B. Support myself.

C. Abandon my life.

D. Fight against my life.(2)How did the author feel when she worked in the local theater?

A. Confident.

B. Excited.

C. Nervous.

D. Disappointed.

(3)What can we learn about the author from paragraph 3?

A. She lived in her own apartment.

B. She had to stay with her father.

C. She was confused about her future.

D. She was looked after by her kids.

(4)What is the author's purpose of writing this passage?

A. To share her understanding of faith with us.

B. To prove her success in the TV acting.

C. To show thanks to her respected aunt.

D. To tell how hard she brought up her children.

【答案】(1)B

(2)D

(3)C

(4)A

根据第二段中的“Back then I had about as much self-confidence as a chicken in a fox's nest”可知作者那时候很自信。以及根据“I'd h ad some bit parts in local theater groups, but those came and went, not leading to anything bigger.”

Lying in bed, staring hopelessly at the wall, I didn't

know what to do or where to turn.”

根据倒数第二段中的“They said, ‘When one door closes, a better one opens,’ Well, I wasn't going to just sit staring at the closed one. So I got up and trudged (跋涉) on. Even if my shoes wore out, I decided, my faith wouldn't. ”可知作者看到电视上的一对明星夫妇说,“当一扇门关闭时,一扇更好的门会打开,”作者就决定她不会只是坐着盯着那扇关上的门。所以她起身跋涉。即使她的鞋子磨损了,她的信仰也不会。作者通过这篇文章和读者分享了她对信仰的理解,故选A。

【点评】本题考点涉及推理判断题型的考查,是一篇故事类阅读,考生需要根据上下文进行逻辑推理,从而选出正确答案。

A. had been working; are still working B. had worked; were still working C. have been working; have worked D. have worked; are still working 此题的时间参照点是before I joined them,,所以第一个空应该用过去完成进行时,第二个空根据时间now用现在进行时。 2. It would be a good idea to use a plastic bottle, ___cut off, as a container to grow young plants in. A. of which the top B. the top is C. the top of which D. with its top 此题是独立主格结构,如果题干改为 ____is cut off,答案则为A或C 3. ______ is it _____ has made Peter _____ he is today? A. What; that; that B. That; that; what C. What; what; that D. What; that; what 用还原法则为 It is what that has made Peter what he is today k可知是强调句式。 4. Before he went abroad,he spent as much time as he _____ English. A. could learning B. learned C. to learn D. could learn spend time (in) doing sth 如果改为he did what he ______, 则答案为could to learn. 5. The person we talked about ____ our school last week. A.visiting B.will visit C.visited D.has visited 此题中包含一个定语从句,the person既作先行词,又作句子的主语,要填入的应该是句子的谓语,根据后面的时间状语为last week,应选过去时。 观察下面三个句子: □The pers on we spoke to ____ no answer at first. A.making B.makes C.make D.made 此题中也包含一个定语从句we spoke to,the person既作先行词,又作句子的主语,要填入的应该是句子的谓语,根据句子的需要,应选过去时。 □The person we referred to(提及)____ us a report tomorrow. A.giving B.will give C.gave D.give 同上题一样,句中包含定语从句we referred to,所缺成份为句子的谓语,又根据句中的tomorrow,故用将来时。选B。 □The days we have been looking forward to ____ soon. A. whose B. its C. which D. that 答案为B。 7. You should treat him (in) the way ____ suits him most. A. that B. in which C. / D. why 此题中先行词the way 后面的定语从句中充当主语。
