Good morning. My dear teachers, I am very glad and honored to be here for this interview. My name is …, My hometown is … of … province. I'm … years old and I will finish my undergraduate period this July in … University majoring in…(应届毕业生) / and I have finished my undergraduate education in… University majoring in…（已经毕业）.
Through four years of comprehensive and systematic study, I have a good understanding and master of journalism and communication. Besides reading books about my major, I also browse various of books especially modern and contemporary literature. Jia Pingwa is my favourite writer and I like his works very much. What’s more, I have strong interests in computer and English and I am proficient in accessing to English reference books, using computer and the application of cyber source.
As a begin learner, I have excellent learning ability and I am willing to combine what I learn with the reality as I know practice is the touchstone of theory. I am fond of trying new things and experiencing new life because of my outgoing and optimistic character. When I am free, I like swimming, taking photos and travelling with my friends.
The important thing in life is to have a great aim, and the determination to attain it. At this moment, I have found my aim, that is studying here. So if I am lucky enough to get this valuable chance, I will devote all my effort and sweat because I know I am a slow walker but I never walk backwards.

1. What are your job prospects of this major?

Being a reporter is the dream that I have when I was young because I think being a reporter is the happiest thing in this world. First, I like staying and communicating with people and I think it can help me to better understand the world. Second, as to my character, I am outgoing, open-minded and willing to accept new things. These are the reasons why I want to be a reporter.

2.What qualities should a journalist have?

Like any other profession, journalism too requires certain types of people, not everyone can become a good journalist. There are certain qualities a journalist should have: a love for people and places and a strong desire to unearth the truth. In a word, a disciplined and passionate person would make a good journalist.

3.You said that Jia Pingwa is your favourite writer, can you recommend a book of him?

Jia Pingwa is one of the most splendid and influential writers in contemporary China whose books have won many literary awards. His novel Happy uses the first-person perspective to describe the real life of the peasant workers with fluent and humorous language. It not only describes their life difficulties but also pays attention to their mental world which leaves space for readers to think.

4.You mentioned theory and practice, which one do you think is more important?
你谈到理论和实践，你认为哪个更重要？
Theory and practice cannot be separated from each other and no one can be absent. On one hand, Theory is the basis of the practice and scientific theory has the positive guidance function on practice. On the other hand, theory should be proved by practice and without practice, theory can’t hold water. For example, the success of socialism with Chinese characteristics is the combination of the basic principles of marxism and the concrete reality of China.

My favourite book is Little Prince which is a very famous French short story. It describes various of adventures of the little prince from his own planet to the earth. From the story, I learn that growing-up is not the problem, forgetting is. So no matter how old we are, we should always follow our heart and chase what we want.

7.What do you do during the Spring Festival?

Spring festival is one of the most important traditional festivals in China. It is a time for family gathering. On this day, people usually have a big dinner with families and children will get their lucky money from their parents or relatives. In a word, Spring Festival is a festival full of hope and wishes.
春节是中国最重要的传统节日之一，是举家团聚的日子。在这一天，人们会和家人一起吃丰盛的年夜饭，孩子会从父母或者亲戚那里得到红包。总而言之，春节是一个充满希望和祝福的节日。
8.Could you tell me something about your family?

There are four members in my family: my parents, my elder sister and me. My father is a XXX (career) in XXX (place). He influences and helps me a lot in the course of my growing up especially when I meet some setbacks. My mother is a housewife who contributes a lot to our family. I am very grateful to my parents for providing me with a warm and loving environment to grow up in. I love them so much and I hope to repay them in the future.

As far as I am concerned, a postgraduate should bear more social responsibilities than other citizens such as forming a good scholar image and try one’s best make any little achievement in one’s own field.
就我而言，研究生应该承担比别的公民更多的社会责任比如要树立一个良好的学者形象，并且要尽己所能在自己的领域做出一些成就。
10.Which kind of professor do you like best?
你最喜欢哪种类型的教授？
I think a good professor would be someone who has excellent professional knowledge and innovative thinking. I hope he can guide me not only in how to do research but also in how to be an excellent people.
我认为一个好的教授应该拥有过硬的专业知识和创新思维。我希望他不仅能够指导我如何做研究也能指导我成为一个出色的人。
11.What does friendship mean to you and what kind of people do you make friend with?
友情对你来说意味着什么？你会和哪种类型的人交朋友？
Friendship means a lot to me and it plays an important role in my life. Friends will always support me and encourage me when I am upset and give me some valuable suggestions. I usually make friend with people who have similar hobbies and characteristics with me as the old saying goes “Birds of the same feather flock together”.
友情对我来说非常重要，在我的生活当中扮演了重要的角色。在我沮丧难过的时候朋友会支持鼓励我，给我一些宝贵的意见，我通常会和一些有共同兴趣爱好和相似性格的人结交朋友因为常言道：物以类聚，人以群分。

I graduated from XXX University in July 2020. During the college time, I devoted all myself into learning the courses and I have obtained CET4 certificate and NCRE certificate.

13.What impressed you most when you were at university?

Campus life is really colorful and precious. Everything is impressive and worth being remembered. What impressed me the most is the basketball game I organized form which I know nothing can be finished without teamwork. By organizing such activity, I not only enhance my ability but also improve my interpersonal skills.

I think every university has its own advantages. The best university is the university in which students can not only acquire a large amount of knowledge from excellent professors but also broaden their horizon by the useful resources provided.
我认为每个大学都有自己的优势。最好的大学应该是不仅能够让学生学有所得而且能够提供优质资源让学生开阔眼界。
15.How do you plan to study during your postgraduate years?
研究生期间你是如何规划学习的？
In my opinion, the study method is of great importance for research. So firstly, I will choose a certain approach in my study area with the guidance of my teacher. Then, I will work out a time schedule and follow it strictly.Thirdly,I will make myself be familiar with the latest development of this area by reading books and journals.I do hope I will get some progress in this field.
在我看来，学习方法对于研究是非常重要的。首先我会在老师的指导下选择合适的研究方法。其次，我会制定一个时间表并且严格遵守。最后，我会经常阅读相关书籍和期刊，熟悉本领域最新成果。我真的希望能够在这个领域取得一些进步。
16.What are your spare time interests?
你空闲时间喜欢做什么？
In my spare time, I like watching movies, listening to the music and reading books. In addition, I insist on running almost everyday which not only builds my body but also gives me strong power during the preparation for the postgraduate examination.
在我空闲的时候，我喜欢看电影，听歌，读书。除此以外，我坚持每天跑步，这一运动不仅强身健体而且在笔试的准备过程中给了我巨大的力量。
17.Where have you been traveling to? Which place interested you most?
你去过哪些地方旅游？那个地方最吸引你？
I like travelling very much and I have been travelling to a lot of places such as the Great Wall, the Forbidden City, West Lake, Jiuzhaigou Valley and so on. Among these places, I like the natural beauty of Jiuzhaigou valley the best which has different scenery in different seasons. I can appreciate the natural landscape and breathe the fresh air which makes me really relaxed.
我非常喜欢旅行，我去过很多地方比如长城，故宫，西湖，九寨沟等地。这些地方我最喜欢的就是九寨沟的风景，一年四季风景各异。我特别欣赏九寨沟的自然景观，呼吸着新鲜空气让我身心愉悦。
18.How do you afford your tuition?

I’m so sorry to admit that my parents will support me. But as an adult, I will try to find a part-time job to reduce their heavy burden. But I promise it won’t affect my study.
我必须承认我需要父母的支持。但是作为一个成年人，我会尽己所能找一份兼职减轻他们的负担当然我保证不影响学业。
19.Does your family support your decision?
你的家人支持你的决定吗？
I am really grateful to my parents for creating a democratic and free family environment for me. They always stand behind me to support any decision I make. When I decide to have further study as a postgraduate, they always encourage me and give me courage to forge ahead. So I never have any thought of giving up no matter how hard the process is as I know they always stand by my side.
我非常感谢我的父母给我创造了民主自由的家庭氛围。不管我做了什么决定他们总是默默支持我，当我决定继续读研的时候，他们一直鼓励我，给我前进的勇气。所以不管考研过程有多辛苦我从来没有想过放弃因为我知道他们一直站在我身边。
20.Why did you choose our university?

In my mind, XXX University is a very famous university which enjoys a high reputation in China and there are so many excellent professors I can learn from. In addition, I am really fond of the beautiful environment in XXX University and it’s a quite enjoyable thing to learn in this famous university. So I am really eager to have further study here.

21.How serious is unemployment among young people and what will you do if you cannot find a job after graduation?

As far as I am concerned, finding a job is not so difficult, but finding a job I like is much more difficult. In order to find a job I like after graduation, I will spare no effort to exercise myself so that I can possess the necessary qualifications which are important for my job.
就我而言，找工作不难但是找好工作确实比较难。为了毕业之后找到满意的工作，我必须全力以赴锻炼自己才能拥有工作必需的资历和条件。
22.What is your greatest strength?
你最大的优势是什么？
Self-discipline. I know I am a slow walker but I never walk backwards. During the preparation for my postgraduate examination, I insist on doing exercise almost everyday no matter what the weather is like and it not only builds my body but also gives me strong power.
自律是我最大的优势。我知道我是一个慢行者但是我从不后退。在研究生备考期间，不管天气如何我都会坚持每天跑步，我觉得这项运动不仅能够强身健体而且能够带给我力量。
23.What is your greatest weakness?
你最大的不足是什么？
Generally speaking, I can be open and outgoing but to be honest I tend to be really tired after the social activities and for me, it's more comfortable to stay by myself and read books at home. I think it is not good, as an adult, social activity is essential. So I have plan to force myself to say yes when I face social activities. I believe I can overcome my weakness in the future.
总的来说，我比较活泼外向但是说实话社交活动让我感觉很疲惫。我更喜欢一个人呆在家里看看书。但是作为成年人社交活动是必不可少的，所以在面对社交活动的时候我要说服自己，我相信自己能克服这一问题。
24.If you failed this time, what will you do in the near future?
如果你这次失败了，你未来有何打算？
It doesn’t matter, everybody would fail sometimes in their life, although I fail this time, it doesn’t mean I am a loser in my college life, I also have done a wonderful job, and this failure will let me have stronger will power. What’s more, I think I am totally successful because I have courage to stand in front of you, am I right?

25.Do you think English is quite important in postgraduate study?

Of course, as I know that English is so important in future, it is a tool in our researching life, I believe that the better English you can speak, the wider world you can explore.

26.What's your plans in the postgraduate study?

First, I hope I can form systematic theory and view of XXX. As for XXX, my wish is to get a complete comprehension of the formation and development of it. If possible, I will go on with my study for doctorate degree. In a word, I am looking forward to making a solid foundation for future profession after two years' study here.
