1General information

The function of the reel body is to take up a reeling cable (high voltage, low voltage or control cable).

As a standard the reel body has the capacity to take up the wound-up length required for this operation plus 2 windings for tension relief.

Note:All below numbers in brackets ( ) refer to the corresponding positions on figure 1 to figure 3.

2Reel body components

The reel body is delivered dismounted and is composed of:

- 9 resp. 10 premounted reel segments

- 1 ramp

-

2 reel plates

3Assembly of the reel body

3.1Requirements

The assembly of the reel body

- requires an even surface;

- requires approx. 20 elements of an equal height

(suggestion: wooden blocks approx. 300 mm x 100 mm x 750 mm);

support (suggestion: 276 mm x 100 mm x 500 mm);

BAL7100-0007-E Reel body, spiral,

divided design - on gear unit K20.

requires at least 2 vises (spacing > 350 mm);

-

For the assembly of the reel body to the gear unit, the gear unit has to be placed at an appropriate height to guarantee a minimum ground clearance of half a reel body outer diameter (D/2).

The reel segments are supplied depending on the nominal cable diameters provided by the customer.

The reel width …b“ to be adjusted, however depen ds on the actual dimension …d“ (cable diameter to be measured by the customer). Choose the reel width as small as possible by leaving out/removing individual washers (16) à 3 mm (per spoke).

If this is required it should be done prior to mounting the segments. Then tighten the nuts with 350 Nm!

Example: Measured cable diameter: 48.4 mm

Supplied reel width: 52.0 mm

Reel width to be adjusted: 49.0 mm

(remove respectively leave out one spacer at each joint)

3.2Assembly of the reel wheel

Do not yet remove the wooden spacers (condition upon delivery).

Put the two reel plates horizontally onto the two low wooden blocks. Since the plates are not symmetrical, make sure that the correct side points to the top.

(outer hole circle displaced to the left).

Always join 2 reel segments of the same number (at the face surface).

If several identical reels are supplied, the segments at the inside of the joint are

additionally marked with the reel number.

Install assembly distance plates at the first joint between 2 reel segments.

Apply vises and screw tight.
