I. Teaching Aims:

1. Target Language

New words and Expressions

take part in, competition, destination, tour, choice, what's more, contestant, company,the Eiffel Tower, range, coast, union, situate, Portugal, Poland, Switzerland.The River Thames.

2. To practise listening skills, and to learn about more European cities.

3. Help the students to know about more Western culture.

4. Encourage the students to be active in English class.

II. Language Focus:

1.Read something about the map of Europe, paying more attention to the location of the European important countries

2. Improving students' listening ability by finishing all the activities at P6.

III. Teaching Methods:

Individual work, pair work to get every student to participate in class.

IV. Teaching Aids:

The multimedia and tape recorder

VI. Moral Ideas:

Let students know some eastern European countries.and compare them with China. In this way the students can be made to show more love to our country.

VII. Teaching Procedures

Step 1 Lead-in:

Show a map on the screen and answer some questions.

!. What is the country off the northweat coast of continental Europe. It has four countries with one government. These countries are England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales? What is its capital? What language is spoken there?

2.What country is Europe's third largest one and face the United Kingdom across the Engilsh Channel? What is its capital? What language is spoken there?

3.What country is in the south of Europe on the coast of the Mediterranen Sea What is its capital? What language is spoken there?

4.What country is to the south of France? What is its capital? What language is spoken there?

5..What country is to the west of Spain? What is its capital? What language is spoken there?

6.What country is in the southeast of Europe, 20% of which is covered by island?

Step2.

a.Look at the pictures on page6 to learn the words:

Cardiff, Valencia, Edinburgh and so on.

b.Read the questions in Activity One by students themselves.

本节课为第一课时。是一节听说课。我面对中等程度的学生,运用了全新的教育理念,展示了这一节课,寓素质教育于英语教学活动之中。在教学中,我采用师生互动的课堂教学模式和开放性的学习方式,例如,在课的开始以课本的introduction中的练习2的内容为蓝本,进行问答练习引入这一课,营造了平等,民主,宽松的学习气氛。我面向全体学生,注重根据学生的基础,去挖掘他们原有的知识资源,从教学目标的设定教学方法,符合目标要求,然后,通过听录音去完成课本中的听力练习,从而使学生从认知领域中掌握英语;Language points的讲解使学生在知识领域中发展智力。第4和第5步的学习使学生在情感领域中得到情感的激励。
