Introduction
Before we start a little test:

If we can agree on that let's continue.
Otherwise you might want to familiarize yourself with the hexadecimal system first.
Additionally if you make those customisations while you are playing the game,
remember that all changes will not show until you have reinitiali
zed the hack.

Chapter 1
Creating your own custom color theme
The first thing we need to understand about themes is the colorID
As you can see in the following example the colorID appears twice!!
The first time in decimal (three digits) in the Name
Not actually needed. (But it can help you keep track of them)
The second time in the code itself as hexadecimal (2 digits)
It's used by CWCheat to decide which theme is active.
(Don't worry it's easier than it sounds)
Here is an example Header

Changing the Button Layout
This is the hardest to do. Mainly because those values are not grouped together like the rest.
As you will see in the default layout you can combine more than one button.
I must advise against changing the multiPlayerHP Control (WLAN)
It's designed to be used as a switch not a button press.

Sharing your customizations with others
Of course I encourage you to share the stuff that you might create using this guide.
But: Please try to do so here (in this
thread) and avoid reposting the whole hack.
Just post the parts you've altered (ie 5-8 for new button controls)
[or even 3-8 + themes if you decide to do a total makeover]
You might also want to add a picture so it's easier to decide which one to use
I'll try to link those posts into this post if such a thing should ever occur.
Sadly no one ever did create something for the old versions afaik -_-

For installation simply read the post and act accordingly.
And if you want to know how I did it:
Also carefully read the initial post and then try to reverse the payload.
Once you have done that you'll know how I managed to pull this off.

If you are new to making hacks you probably should start with something simpler.
This Hack requires reverse engeneering multiple parts of the Game it targets
But after that its just pl
ain mips assembler coding.
Needless to say if you haven't even begun understanding how cheatcodes work, this is where you should start.
Try my CodeType Tutorial Post over at myconsole.it.
Try the attached CodeType Tutorial the web forgot about.
Otherwise:
Try to find a hook in the game you are targeting that ensures code-execution for you.
And try to write a little mips code to do something you normally would do with cheatCodes
(max money etc). That way you can check if your code gets executed and from there start experimenting.
I certainly might be able to give you a few hints to speed up your learning processes either way.
But let's do that via PM and keep this thread for HPD related posts ;-)

7That depends on the game you want to hack.
As long as it has a function that can write text to the display it should be possible.
Just reverse some functions in which strings with placeholders get loaded into $a0 and you will find it
I don't know much about codePR. I always used CWCheat.
But even if it didn't support those codeTypes at all, there is still the possibility to
create the ctrlInterface in the hack itself. I just did smth. like that for another project.
Do you know how to read/write assembler code & convert it from/to hex manually?
Do you have any experience with programming at all?

So far it works better than expected.
Some colors have changed and the Partner/Multiplayer Display is broken by design.
The new ingame PartnerDisplay looks better anyhow ;-)
