Step 1 warming-up
1）Introduc e Dalong to the class and enjoy a video of Dalong’s crazy weekend.
2) Talk about what Dalong’s after-school classes and Dalong’s opinion of these activities.
3)Lead the class to talk about if they have some after-school classes to take. (Purpose:get the students interested in the class and lead in the topic of this period)
Step 2 while reading
Task 1. Skim the whole passage and find out the answer to the following question. What is the common problem for Chinese and American families?

教学设计 1.教学背景 中小学英语大纲中间明确提出：在听说读写全面训练的基础上，要“侧重培养阅读能力”。“得阅读者得天下”。目前我们很多英语阅读课教学在很大程度上还停留在以文章为语言实体的基础上，忽视了培养学生运用科学的阅读方法和策略获取信息的能力。英语课外阅读是巩固课堂阅读教学成果、培养学生英语阅读理解能力必不可少的环节。泛读材料多，情景复杂，所提供的语言现象极为丰富，最利于培养学生的语感。在精读中进行对比、概括，从而认识一定的语言规律。 2.教学对象 成都十八中七年级10班同学。在一学期有余的英语学习基础上，学生具备一定英语精读、泛读能力。但大多停留在课内阅读，以及完成阅读题目阶段。对生词较多的课外阅读，则具有畏难情绪，不愿挑战。 3.教学内容 文本来自《21世纪报》572、573期。《21世纪报》与人教版英语课本内容有一定关联。一定程度上降低了学习背景知识上的难度。内容新颖有趣，谈论同龄人的相关生活等，和中学生的日常生活息息相关。学生对文本感兴趣。 4.教学重难点 对七年级学生来说，培养英语学习兴趣，影响其今后发展。课外阅读的趣味性，不仅培养学生阅读能力，并且能培养学生学习英语的兴趣。这是其重要性。 然而阅读，尤其是课外阅读，主客观的难度确实存在。在教学前，为学生做好挑战难度的心理准备。在教学过程中，采取讨论后作答的方式。在教学后，搜集学生的意见反馈，并且作好调整。以上一些方式，不一而足，均可以帮助缓解这种难度带来的困扰。 5.教学目标 （1）知识目标：学习更多词汇与表达，拓展自己的词汇量 （2）技能目标：通过学习，能够阅读中等难度的课外阅读文章，能基本明白文章大意（3）策略目标：此目标为本堂课主要内容。通过阅读策略的讲述以及练习，帮助学生掌握抓文章大意，获取细节信息，根据上下文猜词等阅读策略。 （4）文化目标：通过阅读了解美国童子军、澳洲学习生活，补充文化对比方面的知识。（5）情感目标：通过结对活动、小组活动，培养团队合作意识。通过教师引导，争取帮助学生克服英语课外阅读畏难情绪。通过对国内外同龄人课内外生活的了解，拓宽视野眼界，对自己的生活及国内青少年生活进行思考。 6.教学步骤： （1）Greetings: 老师与同学们互相问好，随手拿起一本书，用”Do you like books?””Do you like reading?”开始本次课的学习:”Let’s read.
