Q: The first paragraph tells us _______.

A. what automaticity is

B. how accuracy is acquired (获得)

C. how a child learns to walk

Something in chocolate could be used to stop coughs and lead to more effective medicines, say UK researchers.

Their study found that theobromine, found in cocoa, was nearly a third more effective in stopping coughs than codeine, which was considered the best cough medicine at present.

The Imperial College London researchers who published their results online said the discovery could lead to more effective cough treatment. “While coughing is not necessarily harmful(有害的) it can have a major effect on the quality of life, and this discovery could be a huge step forward in treating this problem,” said Professor Peter Barnes.

Ten healthy volunteers(志愿者) were given theobromine, codeine or placebo, a pill that contains no medicine, during the experiment. Neither the volunteers nor the researchers knew who received which pill. The researchers then measured levels of capsaicin, which is used in research to cause coughing and as a sign of how well the medicine are stopping coughs.

The team found that, when the volunteers were given theobromine, the capsaicin need to produce a cough was around a third higher than in the placebo group. When they were given codeine they need only slightly higher levers of capsaicin to cause a cough compared with the placebo.

The researchers said that theobromine worked by keeping down a verve activity(神经活动), which cause coughing. They also found that unlike some standard cough treatments, theobromine caused no side effects such as sleepiness.(2009年全国卷阅读理解D篇)

What is the text mainly about?/What is the main idea of the text/ the second paragraph?;另一种命题方式是提炼文章的标题,其提问方式一般是:What can be the best title for the text? 【例1】(2020安徽卷B篇) Using too much water or throwing rubbish into our rivers are clear ways that humans can put our water supply in danger, but we also affect our water supply in less obvious ways. You may wonder how paving (铺砌) a road can lead to less useable fresh water. A major part of the water we use every day is groundwater. Groundwater does not come from lakes or rivers. It comes from underground. The more roads and parking lots we pave, the less water can flow into the ground to become groundwater. 63. The text is mainly about ______. A. why paving roads reduces our water B. how much we depend on water to live C. why droughts occur more in dry climates D. how human activity affects our water supply

专题强化练(五)——阅读理解之主旨大意题 (限时25分钟) 对应学生用书(单独成册)第113页 A (2020·郑州第二次质检)Something strange has been happening to me lately: Women in the street have been telling me I'm brave. My act of courage isn't much—I just stopped coloring my hair.I had brown hair that started going gray when I was 30.So,like a lot of women,I started dyeing(染)it.It was expensive and timeconsuming. And my hair grows fast,so I needed to go back to the hair salon(美发厅)every 5 weeks. Many people seem to enjoy holding onto their youth for as long as possible, giving others the impression that they don't have much wisdom or many accomplishments. But our hair starts to turn gray and suddenly we start spending $500 or more a year to cover something our male colleagues don't need to cover. Of course, people should do what they want to do with their own body—my mother is 91 and still has“blonde” hair, and why not?I just wish more of us would feel that it is OK to be ourselves, because going gray has done more for me than saving me time and money. I like my natural hair, just as it is.I like how it has got curly again. It is recovering after years of being damaged by chemicals.I also like that it has given me some needed attitude in a society that makes youth seem so important, while being against maturity. It reminds me that I'm not a kid anymore and this isn't a bad thing. Not being a kid anymore means I read the books I want, and not the books I feel I should read.It means not wasting my time at events I don't need to attend when I'd rather be with my family and friends. When I see my hair in the mirror,it's a reminder that my time is limited, and I should spend it doing what matters. There's nothing shameful about growing older. And pretending it's not happening is a way of giving up our power. I see my gray hair as a little act of rebellion(反叛)against the idea that people lose value as they age, instead of gaining it.I see gray hair as my “flag” and I'm letting it fly proudly. 1.How does the author feel about coloring hair? A.It shows people's great courage. B.It is a good way to hold onto youth. C.It shows wisdom and accomplishments. D.It costs much money and it takes much time to do that. 根据第二段,尤其是该段中的“It was expen sive and timeconsuming.” D 2.What should we do when we grow old according to the author? A.Give up our power. B.Pretend to be still young. C.Accept it and act positively. D.Read as many books as possible. 根据第四段,尤其是最后一句“I just wish more of us would feel that it is OK to be ourselves, because going gray has done more for me than saving me time and money.”和第六段中的“I should spend it doing what matters”以及第七

一、提问方式 ·The best title of the passage is ________. ·Which of the following is the best title of the passage? ·What would be the best title for the passage? ·The most appropriate title of the passage is ______. 1 Good Morning Britain's Susanna Reid is used to grilling guests on the sofa every morning, but she is cooking up a storm in her latest role — showing families how to prepare delicious and nutritious meals on a tight budget. In Save Money: Good Food, she visits a different home each week and with the help of chef Matt Tebbutt offers top tips on how to reduce food waste, while preparing recipes for under £5 per family a day. And the Good Morning Britain presenter says she's been able to put a lot of what she's learnt into practice in her own home, preparing meals for sons, Sam, 14, Finn, 13, and Jack, 11.

考点分类练(八)主旨大意题——标题归纳类 A (2021·山东济宁一模) During a decline in tourism, one national park in Thailand has seen a dramatic rise in “visitors”recently. So many are the hermit crabs(寄居蟹) flooding into the otherwise empty beaches of Koh Lanta that shells for them to live in have become in short supply. The Thai government moved quickly to ease the housing shortage, launching a public appeal for empty shells that netted over 200 kg. On December 5 these were distributed around the park in a ceremony. Hermit crabs rely on shells to protect their soft bodies, moving to larger shells as they grow. On Koh Lanta and the surrounding smaller islands, their rapid increase seems to be a natural phenomenon, rather than directly related to the absence of tourists. But the shortage of shells may be man-made: pretty ones have long been gathered to be sold as goods. Crabs begun to make do with potential death-traps such as plastic caps and bottles. The shell drive is part of a government initiative to regain the balance of nature.“I have instructed all national parks to do whatever it takes,” says the minister for natural resources. His inspiration comes from the pause in tourism brought on by the epidemic. A ban on international visitors and the closure of national parks have helped nature recover, bringing endangered leatherback turtles back onto Thai beaches. In the coastal provinces of Phang Nga and Phuket, turtles have laid the largest number of eggs for 20 years. The government has decided to try to copy the policy during the epidemic in future. From now on, all national parks will be required to close for a short period during the off-season and to limit the number of tourists through a reservation system when they are open. Although such restrictions mean reduced earnings from tourism in the short term, in the longer run more parks may help to keep the tourists coming. 1.What happened to the beaches of Koh Lanta recently? A.They got flooded by seawater. B.They became completely empty. C.They were packed with hermit crabs. D.They saw a constant stream of tourists. 2.What contributed to the housing shortage for hermit crabs? A.Natural disasters. B.Human activities. C.Their preference for bottles. D.The government’s involvement. 3.Why are turtles mentioned in paragraph 4? A.To warn turtles are dying out. B.To prove beaches are their ideal habitats. C.To stress the ecological diversity of Thailand.

As they approached an intersection, another car crashed them, sending their car sailing into the yard of a nearby home, coming to a stop only when it crashed into a tree. As smoke rose from the car, a bystander shouted, “It's about to blow up! Get out!” Shaken but OK, Norwood crawled out thr ough the window as the driver's side door couldn't be opened.Along with two of her friends, who'd also managed to free themselves, she ran for her life. But halfway down the street, she realized that her best friend, Simmons, wasn't with them. Norwood ran back and found Simmons unconscious in the back seat. She threw open the back door and pulled her friend out. She dragged Simmons a few feet to safety and laid her on the ground. After checking her pulse and found there was no sign of life, she started CPR. Had the accident happened a few weeks earlier, she might not have known what to do. But just the day before, Norwood, who wanted to pursue a career in medicine, had earned her CPR certificate by learning on her own. Kneeling on the lawn and looking down at her dying friend, Norwood knew she had precious little time to practice what she'd learned. She started pumping Simmons's chest with her interlocked fingers and breathing into her friend's mouth in the hope of filling her lungs with the kiss of life. After quite a while, Simmons began coughing and taking quick deep breaths for air. The CPR had worked! Soon, the ambulance arrived and rushed Simmons to the hospital. And then she heard how her best friend had saved her life. “I am not shocked,” Simmons told ot hers. “She will always help any way she can.” 1.What caused the car crash?

考点分类练(九)主旨大意题——段落大意类 A (2021·山东淄博高三三模) For 30 years we have been told how temperatures have been rising rapidly to the unheard-of level. This is causing polar ice to melt, sea level to rise and has brought about a dangerous increase in extreme weather events. These intense changes would likely present challenges to our society and environment. The causes of climate change are mainly anthropogenic(人类活动引起的) in nature. Since the industrial revolution, human activities have increased the amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. The increased amount of gases which absorb heat has led to more heat being kept in the atmosphere, causing global warming. The certainty of global warming can be seen through some of the natural phenomena like the effect on crops and extreme weather conditions around the world. The recent assessment report says that the earth’s average temperature has risen by 0.74 degrees from 1906 to 2005, and that the average temperature will continue to rise. There have also been more violent downpours, and the ice at the world’s poles and on its mountains is melting. The rising sea level is flooding the low-lying countries in Asia and small islands in the Pacific. This may lead to the displacement of millions of people, loss of millions of land and consequently billions of dollars. Troubled by the serious situation, world leaders came together for the 2015 United Nations (UN) Climate Change Conference in Paris. The climate talks led to 196 countries reaching a landmark agreement that committed nearly every country to lowering planet-warming greenhouse gas emissions to address global climate change. That was certainly an encouraging step for our earth and mankind! As the world leaders continue to commit themselves to monitor our sick planet, we need to continue to take small steps to heal the world. We don’t have much choice. If only we could just pack our bags and migrate to Mars! 1.What does paragraph2mainly talk about? A.The information of industrial revolution. B.The greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. C.The reasons of climate change. D.The result of extreme weather events. 2.What can we infer from the last paragraph? A.We have made great achievements. B.Some measures are still required to take. C.Mars is suitable for people’s living. D.Some countries will receive urgent aid. 3.Which of the following shows the structure of the whole text?
